Biography
Helping children through challenging times.

What do you do when a child faces a life challenge? For example, when a child faces death or divorce in their family, serious illness or self-esteem issues? How do you begin to talk to them, give broader perspective and offer hope? What developmentally appropriate language and ideas will ensure you 'reach' them?

Imaginative Resources for Children(SM) has developed a database of critically evaluated books to help children through challenging times.

The database of self-help books for children guides adults to the best titles they can use to support children through personal events that are painful, confusing or overwhelming. Through information, metaphor and analogy featured books address the unasked questions and misunderstandings common throughout childhood. The books show how other children share, and, importantly, can master similar problems. All featured books are sensitive to children from culturally diverse communities.

Among issues addressed are:

  • Abuse (Physical, Verbal, Substance)
  • Death
  • Divorce/Family Variety
  • Learning
  • Physical Challenge/Illness
  • Self Esteem
